My art is inspired by the ordinary details of everyday life. I grew up in the Intermountain West, far from the bustle of big cities, where people live close to the land. They keep horses, cows, goats, and dogs. The women tend gardens, preserve food, and sew quilts. It’s a nostalgic life—simple, steady, and, until recently, not much has changed from the way pioneers lived 150 years ago. I deeply respect that heritage. My paintings are a call to touch grass, to reconnect with nature, to make things with our hands, and to value sacrifice, family, and faith. I paint the simple things—the seemingly insignificant moments—but through them I also hope to capture the big things: courage, self-sufficiency, hard work, and sacrifice.
